CueFrame is built so that you never have to trust us with much. Scripts, voice processing, video, and filters all run on your iPhone. We don't have an account system. We don't sell data. When we mention "we," what we mean in practice is "the app you're holding."
The short version.
We designed CueFrame with a single principle: your scripts and your footage are yours, and they should never need to leave your device for the app to work. There is no CueFrame account. There is no cloud sync (unless you turn on iCloud — that's between you and Apple). Speech recognition runs on-device using the operating system's own model. We don't see what you write, what you say, or what you record.
The rest of this document explains, in plain language, the small number of places this picture gets more complicated — App Store analytics, crash reports if you opt in, support email you send us, and the platform services that power our website.
Scope & what this covers.
This Privacy Policy applies to the CueFrame iOS application (the "App") and the website at cueframeapp.com (the "Site"). It does not apply to third-party services we link to, the iOS operating system itself, or App Store mechanics that Apple controls.
We are a small independent studio operating under the laws of Delaware, USA, and we comply with the GDPR (for EU users), CCPA (for California users), and similar privacy frameworks. If you have any reason to think we're not, write to us — see contact below.
What data we handle.
The categories below are the only things CueFrame ever touches at any layer of the stack.
From the App
- Diagnostic crash reports, if and only if you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your iOS settings. These are aggregated and anonymized by Apple before they reach us.
- App Store analytics — install counts, version distribution, broad device class — provided in aggregate by Apple. No individual user is identifiable.
- Microphone, camera, and photo library access — used in real time while you're recording. We never transmit these streams off your device.
From the Site
- Standard server logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL, response code, timestamp. Retained 30 days, used only for abuse prevention and capacity planning.
- Website analytics — aggregate page-view and site-performance measurements collected through Google Analytics 4. We continue to avoid cross-site advertising tracking.
What stays on your device.
The following data never leaves your iPhone unless you explicitly export it:
- Your scripts, drafts, and edits.
- Real-time speech recognition — performed by the on-device Apple Speech framework. The audio buffer never crosses the network.
- Video and audio recordings you create with the App.
- Background images you choose from your photo library for background replacement.
- Preferences — filter selection, scroll feel, hidden controls timing, etc.
If your device is backed up through iCloud or another Apple backup feature, Apple may include local app data in that backup according to your iOS settings and Apple's policies. We do not operate a CueFrame cloud sync service and have no access to your Apple backups.
Third-party services.
We use these vendors or platform services. Each one only sees what we list.
- Apple App Store & App Analytics — install, update, crash, and aggregate usage signals. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Fastmail — email hosting for support correspondence you initiate.
- Google Analytics 4 — website analytics for aggregate page-view and site-performance measurement.
We do not use Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or cross-app advertising tracking in CueFrame.
Retention & deletion.
Because we don't store your personal content, there's not much for us to retain. Server logs are rotated after 30 days. Crash reports are kept for as long as Apple's developer console retains them (typically 1 year). Support email threads are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them.
To delete everything CueFrame knows about you in one step: delete the App from your iPhone. That's it. There's no account to close.
Children's privacy.
CueFrame is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for users of all ages, but we do not knowingly direct the App or Site at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that applies). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your rights.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (we hold very little, but you may ask);
- Request correction or deletion of that data;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email cueframe@ddmac.tech. We'll respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy.
We'll update this policy if our practices change. Material changes will be flagged in the App and on the Site at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and we keep a public diff of every prior version available on request.
